This week Dirty In Public features is a Classic Sidecar cocktail recipe. This timeless cocktail is thought to have been invented sometime near the end World War I; although, it’s origins are unclear, it’s mentioned in literature as early as 1907! Named after a motorcycle accessory, the Sidecar’s sophisticated taste and smooth finish is worthy of resurrection.
Classic Sidecar Cocktail Recipe
1 Lemon Wedge
1 1/2 oz Cognac
1 oz Cointreau
1/2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1 cup Ice
In cocktail shaker, combine Cognac, Cointreau, and lemon juice over ice and shake vigorously. Lay superfine sugar on a plate. Rub lemon wedge halfway around rim of chilled martini. Dip moistened side of glass in sugar to lightly coat outside rim of glass. Strain shaker contents into prepared martini glass. Garnish with curled orange peel. Now all that’s left is to Sip, savor, enjoy!
