Stories about the good in humanity are hard to find and when you do find them they are typically about the ubber- wealthy trying to ‘give back’. I loved this story because it shows the good that everyday people, the you’s and me’s, can do to help people in our own communities. Reading about how the anonymous gift of charity and compassion in the form of a $50 bill can transform a family’s holiday from despair to joy helped me to remember what is wonderful about the holiday season. It’s not how many presents are under my tree but being accountable to my neighbor, by sharing my good fortune. Don’t let the fact that you don’t have a Gates-fortune stop you… after reading this article I remembered that for some $50 is a fortune that is the difference between Santa coming to town or not. I put my money where my mouth is and I encourage you to do the same! I hope you step outside your comfort zone and do your part to make someone’s holiday a little brighter.
Ok, so it’s not world changing, life altering, Earth-shattering news but it is entertaining! You know you’re curious. Would it help if I told you that it’s not as predictable as you may think?
You may be asking yourself, who is this dude? If you ever read Vanity Fair or The Atlantic, chances are you’ve seen his work. I didn’t always agree with his politics but I always loved his work. Who was a conductor of the English language, his pen organized words into a melodic, picturesque figure that held you throughout each piece he created. His love of liquor, sarcasm, and his ability to take-it as well as he dished-it, helped to create his iconic persona. From one smart-ass to another; “Cheers! You will be missed.”
Well, unfortunately another celebrity couple bites the dust. I was hoping to get through 2 weeks in a row without mentioning the demise of a marriage but no such luck. Kobe’s marriage of over a decade is ending. Unlike other celebrity marriages, I really believe that this couple actually tried to make it work. The Mrs. openly stood by Kobe after he publicly admitted extra-marital romps and the highs and lows of his NBA career. Whether it was the career, the affair, the spotlight, or just a couple who married young growing apart….at least this dissolution doesn’t make a mockery of the institution; just a likely outcome.
Born at only 27 weeks and smaller than a coke can, this baby has beaten the odds of survival and is expected to be released from the hospital on New Year’s! You have to see the pictures to believe it…it’s incredible!
